just because you can get an ad campaign running with little to no effort doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing it right. In fact, I would say that many advertisers are missing the boat when it comes to getting the most out their advertising dollars – and with just a few small changes here and there they could be getting a much bigger impact out of their advertising efforts

Cuban's Guide to SharkTank

Cuban's Guide to SharkTank:
1. Yes it is our own money that we invest in the deals.

2. We know absolutely nothing other than the name of the entrepreneur when they walk into the Shark Tank. Which is exactly why you see us all start taking notes the minute they start talking and telling us what they are looking for.

3. We do not have access to computers. So we can not do a search or get any other information about the company or industry. Every thing we know or ask comes off the top of our heads.

4. We don’t get to see the tv packages that you see on the show until the show airs. I personally never watch any advance copies of the show. I see it for the first time when it airs on ABC. It makes the tweets more off the cuff.

5. The pitches that you see are just as we see them. The entrepreneurs don’t get any do overs. If they screw up , they screw up and the show must go on. Some have freaked out, and we try to calm them and get them back on track.

and more …

izmia:

What was once the new frontier for land has become the new frontier for insight. Bozeman, Montana is known for being one of the most desirable places to live and work in the United States is the headquarters for several international corporations and non-profits, and home to a university with more accolades than one can count.

TEDxBozeman has some of the brightest minds in Montana speaking on a diverse collection of topics related to Montana. Montana is the land where people truly live, this is where the ‘Big Sky’ and ‘Big Minds’ intersect – and this is how we arrived at TEDxBozeman’s 2011 theme: “Big Sky, Big Minds.”

New video from Foursquare

New video from Foursquare

6 Branding Approaches - Neil Patel

6 Branding Approaches - Neil Patel :
“Do you have all the basics of branding in place, but you are still struggling to create even a dent in your competitor’s market share?

Most companies don’t get branding… and for the ones that do, it’s often not enough. But if you don’t figure out how to climb out of the clutter and ahead of your competition, your company will fail…”

Ashkan Karbasfrooshan is the founder and CEO of WatchMojo. Karbasfrooshan reflects back on 6 years of his startup and identifies lessons learned in each year:

YEAR 1 (2006) — LEGAL: GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING

YEAR 2 (2007) — FINANCING

YEAR 3 (2008) — CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT

YEAR 4 (2009) – HR: NOT HIRING SUPPORT

YEAR 5 (2010) – SALES: TIMING MONETIZATION

YEAR 6 (2011) — GROWTH VS. PROFIT

Your Problem Isn't Motivation - HBR

Your Problem Isn't Motivation - HBR:

Create an environment that supports your workout goals. Have your gym clothes sitting by your bed and put them on first thing when you wake up. In fact, work out first thing, before your mind realizes what you’re doing.

Use a trainer or commit to work out with a friend. It’s harder to argue against your accountability to another person.

Decide when and where you’re going to work out — literally write it in your calendar — and the likelihood of follow-through will increase dramatically.

Commit to a concrete plan that is simple to quantify: 45 minutes of movement a day, cut out sugar, go to the gym six days a week.

Realize that the follow-through challenge will only last a few seconds. As soon as you put your sneakers on and start heading to the gym, your mind will give up arguing with you.

Discipline will be useful for the first week as you get back into working out. But after that, momentum will take over and the pleasure of feeling more fit will quiet the internal chatter.

Finally, think of all the above as a multifaceted campaign. A checklist that you should go through each day to make sure you are stacking the deck in your favor.
